Bonnie & Jeff/Pictures

Bonnie,
You mentioned going to Amite to take pictures but remembered going upstairs. There was an old hotel on main street near the post office in Kentwood. Could this be where you went? Olan Mills would rent a room upstairs a couple of times a year.

I would love to see the picture.

LOL Renee

Renee---You are so right. I asked my mom (84 now) and she said it was the Old Gregot Hotel on Main Street in Kentwood. She said, "Back then Bonnie, a trip to Amite would have been an all day affair!" I guess times really have changed. I didn't know until recently that Karen was your daughter. We have run into each other from time to time at good ole Tangi meetings. I'll have to tell her the next time I see her. It is a small, small world. We were such a small class and it is amazing to me how many directions we are all in. Elloise (Muse) and I talk about going to Branson all of the time. We have made a lot of trips together. Several to Europe. ( The place I want to die at) Richert would appreciate this (talking about driving stories) I have actually driven many miles on the wrong side of the road in Europe. It's OK as long as you stay focused. When I would get unfocused ( which doesn't take much) the people on the other sided of the highway, I'm sure had a S---attack. Oh well, our excuse was always, You know we're from Louisiana and kill ourselves laughing. They would just look at us, give us the finger, and say "stupid Americns" What can I say?

That's great Bonnie! Where did you go in Europe. I've always wanted to go.

Is Elloise Kent's wife? Do they still own Skinny's?

Please let me know if you come to Branson. I don't get to Kentwood very often and when I do I'm so busy trying to visit with family. There never seems to be enough time to go around. And my Mother wants me with her every minute, which is understandable.

You have three boys don't you? Do you have any grandchildren. And do you still "hate kids"

Renee---I still hate kids. Strange coming from a fourth grade teacher and a mother and grandmother. I mean I really don't like kids. And after this week I really don't like kids. I have three sons. Chris is 40. He and Tracie are both RN's and live in Cullman, Alabama. They have three rascalians. They are 8,6,& 4 now, but they were once 2 mos, 18 mos., and 4. I kept them one day for them and after 8 hours I looked at the clock and only 40 minutes had passed. I knew--There's your sign!! It was going to be a long, hard day. Zoe is the oldest, then Michael, and James. Brennan is 39. He and his wife Donna live in Amite. He is a Physical Therapist. They have (get ready for this) Kayla, 18, Brennan 12, and Keegan 18 mos. I educated him and everytime I have any ache or pain, He just says, "Mom, you're getting old" My Bad!!! Robin is my "bad boy" He is 35 and needs 9 hours to graduate from LSU. He has had to take a break because I don't understand how stresful it is. Me? Don't understand how stressful it is!!!As if! I love my grandchildren, but I'm not a good grandmother. I suppose. I really don't babysit. Robin put it very succininctly to the two older boys. Mom does it for a living. The weekends are hers!!So, after both of them getting thoroughly possed at me for a good while, I WON THE WEEKENDS!!!i KNOW THAT IS SELFISH...oH WELL. mIKE IS RETIRED AND NEARLY DRIVES ME CRAZY. wE HAVE BEEN MARRIED 41 YEARS. sOMETIMES i THINK IT IS BECAUSE HE WAS GONE 1/2 OF THEM. I messed up and hit the cap lock. Back to my story. So, actually we have only been married 20 years. He once made that comment and I said Yeah, and out of those 20 years only7 were fun. Just kidding, but....... Yes, Elloise is Elloise Muse. She and Kent still own Skinnys. She and I are the best travelers. We have been to some of the neatest places. My all time favorite was Scotland. We stayed there 3 weeks. There is a commercial on TV that says Rediscover yourself in Scotland. That is what I did. That beautiful country had a profound effect on my. I came home---lost 39 pounds (your know, actually baby fat, ha ha) started being an exercise junkie,(jog 10 miles a day---from 3:30 am to 5:30 am) before school, just adopted a new attitude about myself. I have become very comfortable in my skin. My children are amazed...I still smoke. They have, from time to time jogged with me and can't believe it. My boys can't keep up with me. Oh well, everyone is bound to have some faults. Elloise and I have also been to France, and England. Paris is dirty, but the countryside is beautiful. I love England. When we travel, we like to get out and mix with the locals (stay where they stay, travel as they travel, eat what they eat) We do a lot of touristy things, but we still like to get the feel of the place we are staying at. Have been to many places in the US. I think my favorite is San Francisco. But---Scotland is my obsession. I see your mother often. I still go to Margie every week. She really is frail and I know what you mean about her wanting you by her side all of the time. I have "talked" just way too long. See Ya, Bonnie

It is great hearing about you and your family and your travels. I'll write more tomorrow.

Tell Eloise to tell Kent I said "thank you". They should both know what I mean. I am Renee again.

For a while, when I wasn't working, I really got into genealogy and traced my family back to the 1600's. Not the Jones's. There were too many of them. My mother's family came from Ireland and England. I would love to go there. But somebody else would have to drive!

It is great talking to everyone.

Love, Renee
