O.K. here is the cemetery story. I took Mama to the cemetery to show her Jimmy Gill's new head stone. It was afternoon, once again, the sun was real bright and I was pointing out the grave site. At the time you really couldn't miss it....a large dark granite (very nice) head stone. Of course Mama was commenting how that looks just like Jimmy. I was laughing at her because of the way she said it. She knew Jimmy real well. All of a sudden, I head this awful noise.
I knew I didn't hit a tombstone, or a car, or the light post. When I got out to check I had run into the light post guide wire/cable.....to the tune of over $500 damage. That's what we get for talking about the dead.
But my first mishap was when Mama was teaching me to drive....you guessed it....in the cemetery. I hit the cement corner of a grave site.
I've also hit two kids (black ones) with my car in New Orleans. How many can lay claim to that.
Fortunately, it was before law suits were the way to settle things. The first one just got his knees
skinned up and chain knocked off. I did get out & put his chain back on and he peddled off.
The 2nd one I just rolled the window down....he actually hit my car. Flipped him off his
bike. He was an older kid and going the wrong way....said he was o.k. I think he was more interested in catching up with his other buddies. All these incidents were during the day.-
How many of you "parked" in the cemetery? That I never did....just too scared.

Yes, I do remember your grandmother,. I was at your house as much as I was at mine. My mother still laughs about how you, Lynn and I would walk each other half way home, and when I got back the phone was already ringing, whoever got home first called the other one.
Loved hearing your driving stories. Now I don't feel so bad!
"NO Comment" on parking in the cemetery!
LOL
Renee, We certainly spent every waking & sleeping hour together when we weren't in school or we were on the phone. I remember the time somehow all three of us connected our
phone lines. Still to this day do not know how we accomplished that.
And the hours we played canasta.
Sometime we would use more than two decks. Wonderful memories of those summers.
And I thought hitting the cow was bad EJ...hee hee.
