Ike Comes To Cincy
Who would have thought a hurricane would shut down the mid-west. If this hasn't been carried on national news, there are over 600,000 homes without power here in Cincy. The wind came woshing over the city of Cincinnati. It hit just before our first Sunday afternoon performance. Lights went out in the theatre after about half of the audience was in their seats. The cast decided to do a "concert" version of the show for what ever part of the audience was willing to stay. We put chairs on the stage and with only a few emergency lights over the audience we did our 2 and one half hour show without an orchestra and only a piano. Those that stayed gave us a standing ovation. It was really thrilling and the performance was highly energized. As the say ....the show must go on. However, the second show was cancelled for safety reasons not to mention the lack of air conditioning. The winds roared so loud outside the theatre we thought it was thunder. Since the theatre is in a state park you can imagine the number of trees and power lines down. We are extremely fortunate that where we are housed near the theatre here, we didn't lose power, while one third of the traffic lights in Cincy are out, and almost no grocery stores open. Again I never thought a hurricane would bring the midwest to a standtill. Glad you all survived Ike down south. Glad to hear Margaret is fine too. Wondering when things will get back to normal every where. I'm writing this fast because we lose internet from time to time so please forgive the mispellings, typos, and bad structure.

Richert..
Sorry to hear that you are getting a taste of Ike. He has been mean.
Hope power has been restored.
Galveston has been destroyed. The Slumber Party Gang went there a few years ago. It was such a beautiful area.
