Ella Joy, I’m back after two weeks in the Idaho backcountry. I’ve been out of touch with the world events (with no telephone or internet ) and so much has seem to have happened in just two weeks. A buddy of mine in Rockport Texas and I flew into the Frank Church Wilderness area in central Idaho for our annual fishing and camping trip. ( the nearest road was 40 miles). We had a great time fishing and avoiding bears but a real bed felt wonderful after two weeks.
I was sad to hear about Richard Dunn. I remember sitting next to Richard in several classes and remember him well as most did, as a very quiet guy but who like to laugh and joke about just anything. I also knew that he had become quite successful in several businesses in Louisiana and was well though of by many.
I am happy to hear that everyone weathered the storm well and NOW another is on its way! Margaret are you evacuating! My buddy in Rockport is leaving today for higher ground and I wish everyone well. Betty, I got a chuckle out of my Aunt Mary’s comments and hope you guys don’t have to go through another power outage.
Mary Anne and I will be headed to New Hampshire next week to visit our daughter and her family.
Margaret, Johnny has been asking about joining the blog and I gave him the details of the gmail account so he should be ready soon. Johnny and I have a float trip planned October 5 on the Rouge River in Oregon (our version of your slumber party gang).
Hilda, I haven’t heard from you lately and hope your back is better.
Well I had better get off the computer and start working on Mary Anne’s “to do” list before our New Hampshire trip.

Jeff, I don't think I have Johnny's email to invite him to join. Let me know what it is!
No, we are not evacuating but will become a shelter for several families and about 3 dogs! I'm making a rum cake as we speak to help us weather the storm!
That's a beautiful picture of your plane amongest the hills and trees!
Margaret, I'll let you know what Johnny's gmail address is when he gets it.Good luck with Ike!
Jeff, So good to hear from you and that you were off having a good time even if you didn't have a good bed.
But you must remember that we worry about each other when we haven't heard from someone in a while.
The picture is great. Are you able to fly/pilot again?
Ella Joy, Unfortunately I still cannot "officially" fly, however my fishing partner is also a pilot so we only need one medical. However I am in the process of selling the plane in the photo this week....and I loved that plane. Its one of the most simple planes I'ved flown but was certainly the most fun. Lots of great trips and memories. I am still keeping the Mooney for now (until I receive the final word on my medical) After 40 years of flying I am finding it very tough to give up!
Hope everyone is safe and prepared for IKE!
