Rosemary and Richert in the Big Apple

Just wanted to let you all know Rosemary and I had a great visit this past Saturday in what was arguably the coldest day in Manhattan so far. Of course I forgot to take out my camera, but luckily Rosemary had hers with her so she'll have to post the pics when she has time. She came to my apartment around 11 am on Sat morning and after showing her my obsessive collection we set out on foot to explore some Manhattan Flea Markets and the West Village where I had lived for years. She was able to buy some batik blocks at the first flea market, and then it was off to a quilting store near the second flea market for supplies she couldn't find elsewhere. We stopped at all the "notions" stores in the garment district until she was able to find a particular kind of lace she had been looking everywhere for. All the while between stops we chattered on like a couple of long lost relatives who have a lot of ground to cover and not a whole lot of time. New York is very much a walking town which I am quite used to but I was impressed by Rosemary's stamina. She graciously took me to lunch at a place I new called Chat and Chew, and then it was on to Greenwich Village. We walked all over the varied streets that used to be cow paths and Rosemary took pictures of some of the more beautiful streets and houses. I'm hoping she'll post some of those when she gets time because for someone who is "retired" she seems a very busy lady. She was off to somewhere else as soon as she returned to Louisiana. I think she was willing to continue but by 4pm the cold was finally getting to me so we took a bus back uptown where I got off and she went on to her hotel and more planned outings including a reunion with Andy and another Broadway show. It was a great visit and now that she has seen how easy to get around NYC is, I'm hoping maybe she can make it a regular trip. Was truly wonderful catching up with her as if almost no time had passed since we last saw each other many years ago. Today I'm off to Easton MD for Thanksgiving. On Sunday Bruce and I will drive to NC where we will spend the night at Jeff's and then it's on to see Bruce's daughter who will give birth to his grandchild sometime in January. Back to NYC Dec 8. I hope to check in on the blog and my emails while I'm "on the road". Here's wishing you all a wonderful Thanksgiving. I'll post more when I can.

Richert, Thanks so much for the update on Rosemary's visit. I can just imagine how much fun and catching you had. Wish I could have been there, but I don't think I could have withstood the cold weather.
Wishing you and Bruce safe traveling
and a HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
