Hey y'all,
Just wanted to share our traditions. Ken and Cyndie and children always go to her Mom and Dad's for Christmas, so for 15 years, we have been going to our daughter, Jill's home in Spring, Texas..... They have 3 children, Colby 16 yrs. old, Jacey 12 yrs. old, Kyler 8 yrs. old and they lost a little girl at birth, Christy Ann... On Christmas Eve, we decorate Christmas cookies for Santa, (and us), then we play this game, Ophelia, The Christmas Opossums Journey To Grandma's House, where we (Grandma's and Grandpa's too) all sit on the floor in a round circle.... We each have a gift in our hand and while I am reading the story.. Every time I say left or right, everybody passes the gift either right or left.... Some times the gifts are flying in the air, as there are a lot
of rights and lefts.... We have a wonderful time doing that.... After that, we all pile up in Chris and Jill's SUV and
ride around looking at Christmas lights...... Chris's parents from Okla. are always there also.... I forgot to say that I read the story about the birth of Jesus also.... By the way, I didn't mention that Ken has two children, Ryan Scott 9 yrs. old and Meghan 8 yrs. old.... They live in Hammond, but Ken is a Pharmacist at Winn Dixie in Amite and Cyndie is a Nurse Practioner (SP) in Amite in an office next to Dr. Goldsby.... Ken also has Mom's house next to us, so they come up on week-ends so the kids can ride four wheelers, fish, etc......
I am so glad everybody had a wonderful and safe Christmas.... I also have enjoyed the blog that Margaret fixed for us....
Hope everybody has a wonderful New Year !!!!!
Love Y'all !!!!

Bettye, I thought I knew everything about you! You never told us about the Christmas Possum. I want to get that game or book y'all play. It sounds so cute and fun!
Margaret,
I thought I did, or maybe it was Charl that I was telling... I can't
remember, but I thought all of you knew about it... I will certainly
get you a copy of it... We really have lots of fun playing it, especially the kids.. Sam, Sondra,
Harold and I really have a hard time getting up after we have sat on the floor so long... The kids have a big laugh about that, too..
Betty, I would also like to get a copy of the book and the game. It sounds like so much fun.
Our family is so big and spread out we don't seem to have any traditions anymore. Except for cornbread dressing and now fried turkey. And if we are by ourselves, we just go out to eat.
Every year is different. I never know what to expect from year to year.
Last year one of the girls invited three soldiers who were stationed at Fort Leonard Wood here in MO, for Christmas dinner at our house. They weren't able to be with their families on Christmas and it was so neat to have them.
Bettye, you don't have to worry about getting me a copy. Thank you anyway! Is the book called "Ophelia, The Christmas Possums Journey to Grandma's House? I think I will change the rules a little so everyone is sitting in a chair!
Renee,
The Ophelia, The Christmas Possums Journey to Grandma's House is not a book... It is a typed, 2 1/2 page story that I read.. If you will post your address, I will be glad to make a copy of it and send it to you....At least I don't think it is a book...
Have a good one !!
Bettye, Your Christmas tradions sound great. We are always looking for a new game or story and the Christmas Possum sounds like fun.
It has been fun hearing what every family does. We do different things each year, one of our best traditions is inviting a family or single person to spend Christmas day with us if they have no family in B.R. Two of the families have become like family to us. Have a wonderful, blessed New Year.
