Richert and Bruce at Jeff's in NC

Greetings from NYC. If you had to travel at all in the Northeast you know or at least may have read what a nightmare that was on the Sunday after Thanksgiving. My friend Bruce and I were traveling to NC to visit his daughter and her husband outside of Chapel Hill. Jeff and Mary Ann had graciously invited us to stop over and spend Sunday night with them before heading on to Chapel Hill on Monday. As the initial drive to NC was supposed to be around 6 hours from MD we were thrilled. A 6 hour drive became 11 hours with I-95 more like a parking lot than an interstate. However, we had left early so even with all the rain and long drive we arrived at Jeff's at 8pm. We couldn't have asked for a warmer welcome. I don't eat much red meat anymore, but we had the most amazing steaks, with plenty of wine before and during dinner finished off by some wonderful port. Jeff's daughter and her 2 children were stranded by the weather also so Sunday night was like a great big slumber party. We had a beautiful room on the second floor and the next morning there was a great healthy breakfast of oatmeal cereal and fresh fruit. It was like staying in a very fancy European hotel. It was great to visit with Jeff and Mary Ann for a second time this year and to meet his lovely daughter Caroline and his 2 grandchildren. We stayed up talking over much wine and good company and slept like logs. The next morning we made our way along the second leg of our journey. I cannot express enough gratitude to Jeff and Mary Ann and Caroline for making us feel so welcome and hope I have the opportunity to do the same for them sometime in NYC. I'm going to try to post this slide show, and if it doesn't work, I'll put it in another post.

Richert, this was wonderful. It does sound like y'all had a great visit. I loved seeing pictures of Jeff and Mary Ann's home. However, I would have liked to see a picture of the travellers themselves!

Thanks Margaret. Bruce is the tall fellow standing in the kitchen and somehow I managed to get out of there with out a single photo of myself. I'll post a few photos of our stop in the Outer Banks soon.

Richert, I, too, enjoyed seeing these pictures. Mary Anne and Jeff have a lovely home. I visited with them in the spring of 2007 and it was a most enjoyable visit. Did Jeff mention that he did the renovation of the kitchen?

Hilda, I'm glad to hear from you.
How is your Dad doing? Will you be in Kentwood for Christmas?

Richert, the slide show was great.

Ella Joy, I promised my kids & grandkids I would be home for the holidays. I plan on coming over shortly after though. Dad is doing good right now, as a matter of fact he is at home. Alzheimers seems to be getting worse but guess that is to be expected.
Will call you when I get over there again. Will be great to visit with you.

Richert, my son and daughter-in-law are planning a trip to New York in April. I'm trying to talk them into bringing me with them but since it is to celebrate their anniversary I don't think I will be successful. Oh well, maybe I'll make it sometime.

Indeed Jeff did point out how he had done all the kitchen carpentry himself. Amazing and so beautiful. I was also stunned to learn that he owns 2 plans one of which he had just sold. Didn't know he flew planes. Ah life is a wonderful thing!

Thanks Bettye, hope to see you also when I come to Kentwood again. Rosemary too if she isn't on the road somewhere. Will get your phone number(s) before I come so that maybe we can get together.
