Hi everybody. This certainly has been a busy summer. Seems the older I get , the busier I get. Lots to catch up with.
.
Amanda I got two calls from Amanda. One soon after the reunion and another one over the weekend. She said for now the cancer was gone but that one of her lungs had collapsed. She sounded very weak and said she couldn't talk for very long because she loses her voice. The fire department is having a jambalaya dinner as a fundraiser on August 8th. She asked me to keep everyone updated for her. I've been sending her cards about once a month through Send Out Cards and put my name and "Class of '62".
Send Out Cards Thank all of for you comments on the reunion card. Especially Jeff. What an honor to be next to your grandson's drawing. I'm still using it extensively and I absolutely love it. In less than two months I've sent 89 cards. Probably more than I've sent in a lifetime.
Jack's Tomatoes Margaaret, I loved the pictures of the tomatoes. It's funny how many things stir up nostalgic memories. When I saw the pictures, it reminded me of when Momma would get bushels of butter beans, peas etc. All the kids in the neighborhood would come over and we sat on the front porch shelling them. Wasn't it wonderful when you could get fresh vegetables. It makes me hungry thinking about it.
My Summer My summer started with the reunion. I'm so glad I was able to make it. I can't begin to describe how much I enjoyed it. While I was in Kentwood I went to my grandson's high school graduation. I am so proud of him. Out of a class of 100 he was one of two who got the American Legion Award for Christian, patriotic and family values. I also got to see my granddaughter play ball.
When I left Kentwood, I was home for a day and then went to Miami. We went back to the Keys and over to Naples. We had a fantastic time. I'll post some pictures later.
This weekend we went to Austin to visit my stepdaughter. We floated the Guadalupe river in New Braunfels. And I survived!!! Also went to some fabulous restaurants.
Bonnie Has anyone talked to Bonnie? I miss her. I think I'll try to call her.
Margaret Have fun with Camp Creel. I almost entered you in the Best Grandmother contest for mother's day. I would have if I had more time.
Okay everybody, I've written my book for today. Let us know what everyone else is up to.
Love you all,
Renee

Thanks, Renee, for all the news and
a new post.
I'll try to post something soon.
I'm off to Kentwood to clean up at the camp. More later.
Renee, I love your long notes! They are very enjoyable. I talked to Amanda also and I think posted about that. The funny thing is: when she went to one of her chemo treatments, she started talking to this lady and when Kentwood was brought up, the "lady" happened to be one of my first roommates at USL. They had fun talking about me! Small world..........
Marg,
Where is Amanda going to chemotherapy
and who was the roommate?
It is a very small world...
Renee, Thanks for all the news, amd up date on Amanda. Good talking to you and I appreciate you talking to your step-daughter about Amanda. Will check back with you later.
Charlene,
Has your Amanda found a place to stay yet?
