Here's a picture of my Mother in our house way back when. I wish I had a picture of everyone's mom so I could post them, too! But I do remember all your mothers. We never said Mrs, we called everyone Miss.
- EJ , Miss Adams or Miss Bernice who let me shave my legs for the first time with Ella Joy! We had lots of hair and a bloody mess in the bathtub!
- Bettye, Miss Nat who let Bettye have a monkey for a pet!!
- Charleen, Miss Matherne or for me, Aunt Willie Mae who was so much fun to be around and loved to play cards.
- Sandra, Miss Callahan who would let me go with Sandra to visit her mother out from Independance.
- Janice, Miss Nettles or Miss Sally, who was so very sweet and let me stay over many a night at their house.
- Lynn, Miss Vada Pearl who cut my hair.
- Rosemary, Miss Roper who gave me my first job at the 5 and 10 cent store.
- Dorothy Ann, Miss Ethel who made the best hamburger in the whole world.
- Renee, Miss Jones who was the beautiful mother in the world!
- Jeff, Miss Irma who plucked my eye brows for me for the first time.
- Richert, Miss Easley, another very sweet lady and she worked at Simmon's.
- Johnny, Miss Kent, sorry Johnny, I never met her because you never asked me to spend the night at your house.
- Bonnie, Miss Kathryn who let Bonnie have the car anytime she wanted and Bonnie would pick me up and we would ride for an hour just talking and listening to the radio.
- Ovalene, Miss Abbott whom I don't remember meeting. Sorry.
- Hilda, Miss Carter, was a beautiful redhead and very nice to me.
- Kenny, Miss Cutrer who was very nice and let me hang out with Kenny's sister Gail at their house.
- Gail, Miss Feltman whom I don't remember. Sorry, I know she was special.
Here's to all these lovely ladies and their very special off-spring. They brought us up well, didn't they? And to all......Happy Mother's Day!

Oh, Margaret..... That was just about the sweetest tribute to all of our Mother's anyone could have done..... You can always come up with the best ideas...... That is a beautiful picture of your Mom, and I remember all of them too, so well....
Margaret - Miss Gill who always let me almost live at your house and put up with me... Also she had a time with Jimmy, fussing at him to let us alone and quit picking on us.... She was just about the sweetest Mom ever !!!!!!!
I hope everybody has a great Mother's Day, and those of you who are lucky enough to still have your Mom, don't forget to tell her how much you love her.......... I still miss mine so very much, and wish I could tell her how much I love her.......
Love y'all...
Thank you, Bettye. Mother loved you dearly. Yes, she did have to intervene with Jimmy to leave us alone!
I could have said a lot more about your mom, too! Miss Nat was so sweet and did let y'all have so many pets! Groucho, the monkey, was a pest though! I remember I couldn't say Mr. Leonard very well so I called your dad Mr. Nat. They always got a kick out of that.
Margaret, Daddy loved you calling him, Mr. Nat.... I can see his big belly now going up and down as he was laughing about it.....
Renee, I remember Miss Yvonne and Mr. Hopper having something in y'all back yard. Was it a green house?
Margaret, you really out did yourself with the tribute. I could write many pages on how wonderful our mothers were.
Renee, Miss Yvonne was always dressed to the hilt. She never went any where unless she had on earrings. Even when she had on shorts. And oh my, never without makeup. If for some reason I forget my earrings, I always think of her.
Irma plucked my eye brows for the first time too.
Richert, years ago, your Mama bought me a rhinestone bracelet which had a small rhinestone ball
dangling from the band. You gave it to me for my birthday or some occasion. It was lost, along with
my pink jewelry box & all my treasures of the '50's & '60's in Katrina.
Then, in our later years, Mama,
Miss Nat, and Miss Gill were always looking out for each other.
I will never forget the sadness Mama felt in losing those two dear friends.
Margaret, that is such a wonderful idea for Mother's Day. Yes, we had several green houses in the back yard. After Daddy's seventh heart attack, the drs said he had to quit working. So he filled up our yard and even built some at his cousin Tator's house. I'm in Phoenix now. It is beautiful here!
