Stringfield's Store/Lunch at School

Okay, since we are going down memory lane, one of the things I remember well was the
tuna fish sandwich, which Mrs. Stringfield made. The tuna fish was spread real thin and we would put potato chips on the sandwich. Carter's Store on the corner was also where we would go get snacks.

After grade school, I do not remember eating in the cafeteria. Since we lived so close, I went home most of the time. So it was not that often that I got to have one of those wonderful tuna sandwiches.

Daddy or Mr. Duncan Womack would be on the busy Hwy. corner watching us cross the
street at noon and after school. I can still see Daddy standing on that corner.

EJ, I remember the store well. Peggy and Polly were our friends that we played with and LeRoy was one of my brothers' age and then there was sweet Jimmy Stringfield.

Signed....your editor!

Hey, I remember the tuna sandwiches too.. We sat on the little hill in their yard and ate our lunch... I still put potato chips between my tuna fish sandwiches... Also, I remember they had val-o-milk candy in the freezer that I dearly loved.. The only place that I can find the val-o-milk is at Cracker Barrell... They are so good frozen..

I think I learned to put chips on Tuna Salad from you guys and I do remember those tuna sandwiches. But talking about the Rosebowl, I loved those weird hamburgers Jimmy served there. They were nothing like any Hamburger I've ever eaten. It was sort of like you couldn't tell where the meat ended and the sauce began. And they were sort of sweet. But I loved them and a real treat was to have 2!! at one sitting.
