This is Jack's garden which he gives more tender loving care to than he does me!

However, come harvest time, I'm first in line for tasting!

I never ate tomatoes until I married Jack!

These are some of the green ones on the vine. I wish I could send you all one! They are so good!

Very impressive! Sure makes me want a tomato sandwich. Do you sometimes have fried green tomatoes?
Used to grow our own tomatoes every summer at the theatre where I did summer stock for many years. That theatre finally went non-union so I can't work there anymore. But I miss those real summer tomatoes this most. My mouth waters just looking at them.
Hilda,
When we went on our Slumber Party trip last month we were at a little restaurant in Vicksburg that served them. Charlene wanted to try them and Margaret chimed in and said "why
not, their only $2.99". so they were ordered. Bettye & Charlene were sharing one check & Marg & I another.
The fried tomatoes were put on Charl & Bettye's...Wow, were they surprised when their bill came...
$10.99 for the tomatoes.
Wow! Expensive tomatoes. I have had them a few times and even tried cooking them but mine didn't come out as good as the ones in the restaurants where I have tried them.
EJ, I was hoping you wouldn't bring that up! Charl and Bettye really got the short end of the stick on that one. I actually thought they were part of the side orders, not a entree! However, the were so good and fed all four of us easily. BTW, EJ and I paid for the $4.99 dessert that we all four shared, including EJ who said she didn't want any and then ate more that the rest of us...........Hee, hee! Yes, I was counting the bites each one took!!!
Back to the original question by Hilda: no, we don't ever have fried green tomatoes. The only thing I like about them is the movie!
Hmmm...I'm sitting on the back porch wondering if Mary Anne will let me cut down some of the roses and plant tomatoes?
Jeff
Jack's tomatos look great.
We have a garden with tomatos,
bell peppers, egg plants, squash,
& cucumbers, but nothing is ready
yet. I love growing them, and
of course having a bacon and tomato
sandwich.
